CEM has extensive resources for evaluating drug and technology use in the real world. In situations where academic questions have arisen at CEM that overlap with the interests of the private sector, CEM has conducted research projects with the support of industry.

At CEM we have been able to evaluate the use of the biologic therapy etanercept in the Canadian population, determining the patient characteristics of the users, and to do an assessment of clinical benefits and risk at one year’s time.

Similarly, studies have been conducted on patients with hyperlipidemia and patients with type 2 diabetes, and the medications they used.
